Bride Feature: Georgia McLachlan

Nemo Featured Bride

Georgia McLachlan

Mudbrick moments

After meeting as year 3 pupils at Queenstown Primary, it was years before Georgia & Ben reconnected and began their love story. But their journey to Mudbrick Winery for their wedding saw them together there in the same spot in 2018 for a date night, then again in 2020 for their engagement. This magical winery was close to their hearts, so it was a no brainer to make it their wedding venue in December 2022.

Georgia wanted a dress that was as special as their love-story, and after searching the whole world over, she still couldn’t find a gown that ticked all of her boxes. So, she brought back her list of inspiration, and together with the Nemo team we designed and created the dream dress for Georgia’s dream day.

HERE AT NEMO WE BELIEVE THAT A WEDDING DRESS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THE MATERIAL AND THE THREAD THAT MAKE IT…

It’s first and foremost about the love story that brought you here.
It’s about the moment your man asked you to be his bride.
It’s about the way it makes you feel when you think about wearing your dress on your Wedding Day.
It’s about all of the things that inspired you to choose your dress design, the patterns & materials, and what they all mean to you.
It’s about the merging of your families into one and the way you want to celebrate all of the above.
We want to tell your dress story!

Your Name: Georgia McLachlan

Your Partner’s Name: Ben McLachlan

PRE-WEDDING STORY

How and when did you meet your partner?

We actually met at Queenstown primary school in year 3. We were in the same class! But the spark between us started in 2018 on a date at Bespoke kitchen in Queenstown.

What is the story of when your partner proposed?

We rented a couple of retro scooters and went winery hopping on Waiheke for the day, ending up at the beautiful Mudbrick Winery. After a delicious dinner and a glass of wine (or few) we left and were making our way through the vines when he got down on one knee.

What are some of the things you love most about your partner?

Georgia’s response: He's down to earth, humble, helps me to live in the present with his free spirited and adventurous nature. But most of all I love that he is equally as weird as me.

Ben's response: She is kind, supportive, makes me laugh every day and is one of the most positive people I know. I love that anywhere we go she makes friends easily because she's a warm and loving person.

How would you describe your wedding style in 3 words?

Relaxed, Fun, Genuine.

What do you look forward to the most on your wedding day?

Hearing Ben's vows and dancing the night away.

What was your inspiration when designing this bridal look?

I had tried on a few dresses when travelling with Ben overseas, so I had an idea of what shape suited and a couple of features I knew I wanted.

Is there one (or more) element of design that you're most excited about with your dress?

The tie at the back and delicate detail of the fabric on show around the chest area.

After-Wedding Feedback:

What was the date & location of your wedding?

17th December 2022 at Mudbrick Winery, Waiheke

Given one sentence, how would you describe your day?

A party & a celebration with all of our favourite people!

What was the best feature of your day?

The energy that everyone brought to the day and night. High vibes, laughter, fun, dancing, big love and support.

Did you use a wedding planner or self style?

Mudbrick provided a planner for the day but we planned/styled ourselves leading up to the day.

What companies would you like to commend for their services on your day?

The Peach Club: hair and makeup.
LA Social: band.
